Olive Garden\'s same store sales increased 2.4%, its 56th consecutive quarter of same-restaurant sales. The Knapp-Track(TM) benchmark was down 3.7% for the comparable period.

Ruth's second quarter indicative of what's ailing restaurants

Sales were down 7% and operating expenses rose 380 basis points to 50.2% of sales from 46.4% in the prior year. Ruth\'s leverage ratio at the end of the second quarter was 3.25 times (total debt divided by adjusted LTM EBITDA) versus a bank covenant level of 3.5 times.
